POS for groceries and minimarts

A minimart carries more products, more cashiers and thinner margins than most shops. These are the parts of a POS that carry that load, and what each one does in Tindro.

A busy minimart with several checkouts

What a busier counter needs

  • Barcode scanning. Any USB or Bluetooth scanner that types like a keyboard works. Scan, and the product is in the basket.
  • Several cashiers at once. Unlimited staff accounts on the base price. Every sale records who rang it up and which drawer took the money.
  • Cash drawer counts. Each shift opens with a float. At close the counted cash is compared with what should be there, and the gap is recorded.
  • Sold by weight. Rice, sugar and meat sell by the kilo. Quantities take decimals, so 1.25 kg is a normal entry.
  • Barcodes for loose goods. The Barcodes module creates in-store codes for items without one and prints shelf labels with the price.

Stock that keeps up with deliveries

  • Purchase orders. Order from a supplier, then receive the delivery in full or in part. The balance stays open until it arrives.
  • Cost follows the supplier. The unit cost you paid on delivery becomes the product cost, so margins move when supplier prices do.
  • Low-stock warnings. A low level per product, flagged on the dashboard before the shelf is empty.
  • Stock counts. Enter what is on the shelf; the difference is logged as an adjustment with a reason and a name.

More than one branch

With the multi-branch module each branch keeps its own stock, transfers are recorded at both ends, and reports run per branch or across the business. One monthly price however many branches you open.

Questions

Can two cashiers sell the last unit at the same time?

One sale completes and the other is refused, so stock never goes below what you have, unless you allow selling below zero.

What hardware do I need?

A browser on a PC, tablet or phone. A barcode scanner and a 58mm or 80mm receipt printer are optional.

Are the receipts official BIR receipts?

No. Tindro prints sales receipts. A business required to issue BIR receipts must continue to do so.
